About The Position

TAK Broadband is a leading end-to-end U.S. fiber broadband network construction contractor operating in 42 states, connecting communities to new valuable digital opportunities. They offer comprehensive service solutions, from construction to drops to fulfillment, supported by an ecosystem of partners including engineering teams, distributors, and over 100 qualified construction crews, 300 experienced bury drop crews, and 700 professional technicians. The company is seeking a motivated Pipefitter to support pipeline construction and maintenance projects for its Public Works department in Sacramento, CA. In this full-time role, you will install, repair, and maintain water piping systems, including water mains, valves, fire hydrants, and services. Key duties involve reading project plans and specifications, cutting and threading pipes, and performing repairs to ensure safe water delivery. The position requires meeting at the yard daily and traveling with the crew to various job sites within a 2-hour radius, returning daily.

Requirements

  • 3+ years previous experience in plumbing, piping or municipal water utilities at a journeyman level
  • Ability to prep and clean job sites, dig trenches or pits, backfill, and level ground to grade
  • Capable of safely controlling traffic in and around work zones
  • Experience with potholing to expose underground utilities
  • Basic knowledge of underground piping systems (storm, sanitary, or water) installation
  • Ability to assemble pipe sections, tubing, or fittings using various materials (e.g., couplings, clamps, cement, solder, etc.)
  • Skilled in measuring, marking, and locating pipe installations using rulers, levels, or similar tools
  • Ability to cut, thread, and shape pipes using saws, torches, pipe threaders, and benders
  • Comfortable operating hand tools, jackhammers, air compressors, and vacuums
  • Able to lift, carry, and transport tools and materials safely
  • Experience and ability to use basic hand tools, jackhammers and jumping jacks
  • Able to bend, lift, kneel and stand for long periods of time
  • Able to withstand exposure to heat, cold and rain; chemicals and fumes; dust from roads and break up of concrete; cars on roads
  • Able to travel to various job sites within a 2-hour radius (meet at yard & return same day)
  • Must provide a valid government-issued photo ID for verification; a driver’s license is required if the role involves driving
  • Passing of all pre-employment requirements (MVR, Background Check, Drug Screen)

Responsibilities

  • Install, repair and maintain water piping systems including water mains, valves, fire hydrants and services
  • Read project plans and specifications

  • Dig pits and/or trenches, backfill, compact and level to grade
  • Control traffic in and around work zones
  • Pothole to expose utilities
  • Layout, assemble and install pipes, valves and fittings for water systems including water mains and services lines
  • Operate hand tools, jackhammers, air compressors and vacuums
  • Load, transport and unload tools and materials
  • Perform general physical activities that may include climbing, lifting and balance
  • Adhere to safety regulations including OSHA standards
  • Complete pre-trip and driver logs when applicable
  • Travel to various job sites within a 2-hour radius (meet at yard & return same day)
  • Drive Company vehicles responsibly and safely
  • Responsible for loading, properly strapping & hauling heavy equipment as well as towing a vac, dumping & cleaning the vac
  • Perform other duties as assigned
