About The Position

The Mundy Companies is hiring a Pipefitter in the Pasadena, TX area. Pipefitters install and repair high and low-pressure pipe systems used in manufacturing, electricity generation, and heating/cooling systems. They work from blueprints and drawings, laying out jobs and performing tasks such as measuring, marking, cutting, and threading pipe to connect systems. Pipefitters work with various piping materials and tools, requiring knowledge of their specific uses, especially for gas and chemical systems which demand certain pipe types, seals, and gaskets. The trade requires formal training to understand local ordinances, state codes, and regulations. Eye-hand coordination, manual dexterity, and physical balance are important, as is the ability to use different materials and construction techniques depending on the project.

Requirements

  • minimum of three (3) years of continuous and current experience as a Pipefitter in a petrochemical, industrial, or manufacturing environment
  • Proven experience as a pipefitter or similar role
  • Proficient in tube bending techniques and pipe fabrication
  • Strong knowledge of plumbing codes and regulations
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and schematics accurately
  • Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments such as calipers
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Physical stamina to perform manual labor tasks in various weather conditions
  • The ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing is required
  • All qualified applicants must possess the ability to pass a criminal background check

Responsibilities

  • Read and work from blueprints
  • Install and make minor revisions to pre-fabricated pipe
  • Perform general piping work such as line breaking, installing blinds, gaskets, valves, couplings, and other fittings
  • Cuts or drills holes in walls to permit passage of pipes, using pneumatic drill
  • Selects specified type and size of pipe
  • Mounts pipe hangers and brackets to hold pipe
  • May disassemble and remove damaged or worn pipe
  • Perform other duties as required, such as working with screw pipe
