About The Position

Wood is seeking a Pipefitter Helper to join its team in Freeport, Texas. The role supports pipe installation work, including selecting materials and equipment, preparing and installing pipe and fittings, securing and testing piping systems, and handling tools and supplies. Respiratory protection is common and may be required. The employee must comply with safety and project rules, communicate effectively, and work safely and productively. Authorization to work lawfully in the United States without sponsorship from Wood is required.

Responsibilities

Select pipe types and sizes, related materials, and equipment according to job specifications.
Inspect work sites for obstructions and plan installation sequences to avoid obstructions and conflicts with other workers' activities.
Cut pipe using hand tools, cutting torches, or pipe-cutting machines.
Thread pipe using a threading machine.
Bend pipe by hand or with pipe-bending tools and machines.
Mount pipe hangers and brackets on walls and ceilings.
Assemble and install metal or nonmetal pipes and fittings using appropriate jointing methods and hand tools.
Secure pipes to structures using brackets, clamps, hangers, and hand or power tools.
Test piping systems for leaks by increasing pressure and observing gauges.
Load, transport, and unload materials, tools, equipment, and supplies.
Assist with lifting, positioning, and securing materials and work pieces during installation.
Perform minor maintenance and cleaning of tools and equipment.
Observe and comply with safety and project rules, and respond appropriately to safety alerts, warnings, and hazards.
Use effective verbal and written communication and communicate with supervisors and employees.
Perform other duties as required.
