About The Position

Wood is seeking a Pipefitter Helper to join its team in Freeport, Texas. The role supports pipe installation and related work, including selecting materials and equipment, preparing and installing piping, testing systems for leaks, transporting supplies, and maintaining tools and equipment. The employee must follow safety and project rules, communicate effectively, and work safely and productively. Respiratory protection is common and may be required. Authorization to work lawfully in the United States without sponsorship from Wood is required.

Nice To Haves

At least 6 months of documented field experience in the chosen craft discipline is preferred.

Responsibilities

Select types and sizes of pipe, related materials, and equipment according to job specifications.
Inspect worksites for obstructions and plan installation sequences to avoid them and other workers’ activities.
Cut, thread, and bend pipe using hand tools and machines.
Mount pipe hangers and brackets, and secure pipes to structures using brackets, clamps, hangers, and hand or power tools.
Assemble and install metal or nonmetal pipes and fittings using appropriate jointing methods and hand tools.
Test piping systems for leaks by pressurizing pipes and observing gauges.
Load, transport, and unload materials, tools, equipment, and supplies.
Assist with lifting, positioning, and securing materials and workpieces during installation.
Perform minor cleaning and maintenance of tools and equipment.
Observe and comply with safety and project rules, and respond appropriately to safety alerts, warnings, and hazards.
Communicate effectively verbally and in writing with supervisors and employees.
Perform other duties as required.
