About The Position

This role involves assisting pipefitters in the installation, maintenance, and testing of process piping and utility systems. The helper will use various hand and power tools to cut, grind, assemble, and install pipes and fittings. Responsibilities include preparing the work area, mounting supports, and ensuring a clean and safe work environment. The position requires the ability to work at heights, traverse uneven terrain, and operate tools and equipment safely.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 6 months of industrial construction experience.
  • Ability to safely traverse uneven terrain with tools and building materials.
  • Ability to climb vertical ladders and work above ground as necessary.
  • Safe and dexterous use of hand tools.
  • Safe operation of power tools and equipment.
  • Adherence to all safety procedures.
  • Understanding of personal fall arrest systems.
  • Ability to assess scaffold.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate with Pipefitters and others to perform job tasks.
  • Manipulate and understand the use of different types of power and manual pipefitting layout and construction tools.
  • Assist with installation, maintenance, and testing of process piping and utility systems.
  • Cut, grind, and assemble pipes using hacksaw, pipe cutters, hammer and wedge, cutting torch, and pipe cutting machine.
  • Thread pipe using a threading machine.
  • Mount pipe hangers and supports from structural steel to hold pipe.
  • Assemble and install a variety of metal and nonmetal pipe and pipe fittings, including those made of brass, ferrous and non-ferrous metals and plastics.
  • Join piping by means of threaded or cemented joints.
  • Secure pipe to structure with clamps, brackets, and hangers, using hand tools.
  • Unload materials, tools, equipment, and supplies.
  • Assist in lifting, positioning, and securing of materials and work pieces during installation.
  • Clean and perform maintenance activities on tools and equipment.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Safely traverse uneven terrain with tools and building materials.
  • Climb vertical ladders and work above ground as necessary.
  • Perform a variety of tasks involving safe dexterous use of hand tools.
  • Safely operate power tools and equipment.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures.
