Responsibilities

• Read blueprints and specifications to determine the scope of work, including the location, quantities, and sizes of required materials.
• Lay out, position, align, and fit together fabricated parts of structural metal products.
• Set up face blocks, jigs, and fixtures.
• Locate and mark centerlines and reference points on the floor or face block, then transpose them to the workpiece using tape, chains, a plumb bob, and squares.
• Position or tighten braces, jacks, clamps, ropes, or bolt straps to hold parts in position for welding or riveting.
