About The Position

The Pipe Welder will perform high-quality welding on a variety of pipe materials, including stainless steel, chromes, Inconel, carbon, and copper nickel, using GTAW and SMAW processes. Responsibilities include welding in multiple positions, adhering to industry standards, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality requirements in a dynamic construction environment.

Requirements

  • At least five years of pipe welding experience in an industrial or shipyard environment.
  • Must pass a welding test on specific procedures and welding codes (e.g., MIL-82H, MIL-MS-2, MIL-RN82H).
  • Strong working knowledge of pipe welding codes, specifications, and industry standards.
  • Proficiency in GTAW (TIG) and SMAW (STICK) welding, including 6G position welding.
  • Knowledge of carbon steel, stainless steel, copper nickel, nickel copper, and Inconel alloys.
  • Ability to understand and follow detailed instructions and work procedures.
  • Proof of Identification - Driver's license or any other identification card issued by federal, state, or local government that contains a photograph and the person's name, date of birth, gender, height, eye color, and street address.
  • Must be a citizen of the US, its possessions or territories, or lawful permanent resident as defined by USC 1101(a)(20), or protected individual as defined by USC 1324b(a)(3)
  • Proof of US Citizenship (must provide one)
  • U.S. citizenship is required for this role due to federal contract requirements.
  • Work authorization will be verified in accordance with federal law after a conditional offer of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with EB ring consumable inserts.
  • Experience in submarine piping is a plus.
  • Successful candidate must possess the willingness and ability to complete and pass all pre-employment and employment screening requirements which may include but are not limited to: Practical skills, COVID-19, other medical, psychological (if required by site), background and substance abuse screening(s).

Responsibilities

  • Perform 100% x-ray quality welds on chromes, stainless, Inconel, carbon, nickel copper, and copper nickel using GTAW (TIG) process.
  • Weld in flat, vertical, horizontal, and overhead positions; perform tack welding, heat bending, grinding, and clamping.
  • Plan, layout, and install pipe and tubular components according to plans, specifications, and welding codes.
  • Use hand and power tools (e.g., cutting torches, files) to measure, cut, assemble, and weld structural steel components.
  • Install supports, valves, and control equipment; test systems and ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Assist with joint fit-up, alignment, and rigging/lifting as needed.
  • Set up and operate welding equipment, including adjusting gas flow and pressure for proper flame control.
  • Work in confined spaces with exposure to extreme temperatures, chemicals, and radiation.
  • Follow lockout/tag out procedures and adhere to all site safety and operational protocols.
  • Read and interpret plans, drawings (orthographic, isometric), and specifications; visualize 2D drawings in 3D.
  • Complete quality audits and ensure all welds meet required standards.
  • Attend site-specific training and follow all established procedures.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor.
