About The Position

The Pipe Inventory Manager is responsible for overseeing the procurement, storage, tracking, and distribution of pipe materials for construction projects. This role ensures that all pipe inventory is accurately accounted for, properly stored, and readily available to support project timelines. The Pipe Inventory Manager works closely with project managers, foremen, suppliers, and logistics teams to optimize inventory control and minimize material shortages or delays.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 3+ years of experience in inventory management, materials coordination, or a related field, preferably in construction or pipeline industries.
  • Experience with inventory tracking systems, procurement software, and logistics management.
  • Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to analyze inventory data and optimize material usage.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, inventory software, and ERP systems.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume inventory environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate inventory records of all pipe materials, fittings, and accessories.
  • Track incoming and outgoing materials to ensure proper documentation and reporting.
  • Conduct regular inventory audits and reconciliations to identify discrepancies.
  • Develop and implement inventory control procedures to prevent shortages or excess stock.
  • Work closely with suppliers and vendors to order materials based on project requirements.
  • Monitor pricing trends, availability, and lead times for various pipe materials.
  • Coordinate deliveries and ensure materials arrive on schedule to prevent project delays.
  • Assist in negotiating vendor contracts to secure the best pricing and delivery terms.
  • Oversee warehouse and storage yard operations, ensuring proper material handling and organization.
  • Ensure all pipe materials are stored in compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Implement labeling and tracking systems to streamline material retrieval.
  • Work with project teams to schedule timely material distribution to job sites.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety policies regarding material storage and handling.
  • Train employees on proper inventory handling procedures to reduce waste and damage.
  • Maintain accurate records for regulatory compliance and reporting.
  • Communicate inventory levels, shortages, and ordering needs with project managers and site supervisors.
  • Generate weekly and monthly inventory reports for management review.
  • Collaborate with accounting teams to track material costs and reconcile purchase orders.
