About The Position

Assist skilled craftspersons by performing supportive duties under immediate supervision. The level and degree of responsibilities and requirements vary depending on months of experience and assigned job step. The role involves learning piping fabrication and installation tasks and supporting work on a construction or industrial site.

Requirements

• Ability to pass pre-access drug and alcohol testing, a fit-for-duty medical examination, and a background check.
• Ability to work irregular hours, weekends, overtime, and holidays as required.
• Ability to move about a construction or industrial site and stand, walk, sit, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl.
• Ability to climb and maintain balance on formwork, steel formwork, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds; access equipment or work areas may exceed 200 feet.
• Ability to work in confined and cluttered places and on uneven surfaces.
• Ability to complete tasks in noisy and dusty environments.
• May be required or able to move items weighing up to 50 pounds across a construction or industrial site.

Responsibilities

• Learn to read isometric drawings, take measurements, and fabricate and install piping efficiently.
• Assist skilled craftspeople with aligning, bolting, and clamping fabricated metal components in position for welding.
• Assist with assembling and securing pipes, tubes, fittings, and related equipment to specifications, including welding and threading joints.
• Position and secure materials and workpieces during installation, and install items in accordance with applicable plans and specifications.
• Learn to distinguish types and thicknesses of metal materials.
• Learn to handle and apply rigging equipment securely.
• Operate beveling machines, cut-off grinders, hammers, torches, magnetic drills, and a Saw-Zall.
• Lay out and install equipment, vessels, skids, pumps, pipe, and supports.
• Assist with hydro testing piping systems.
• Observe and comply with safety and project rules, and perform other duties as required.
