About The Position

Assist skilled craftsperson(s) by performing supportive duties as directed while working under immediate supervision. The level and degree of responsibilities and requirements vary depending on months of experience and assigned job step. The role supports piping fabrication and installation, equipment layout, and piping-system testing.

Requirements

• May require a high school diploma or equivalent, with previous years of experience in the field or a related area.
• Must possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for the position.
• Ability to understand, follow, and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with management and supervision.
• Field experience in the chosen craft discipline.
• Knowledge of the safe and efficient use of hand tools, power tools, and layout tools.
• Able to meet all physical requirements.
• Must have all required tools.
• Expected to climb and work at heights and in confined spaces, which may exceed 200 feet.
• Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Able to work overtime, nights, and weekends as required by workload.

Responsibilities

• Learn to read isometric drawings, take measurements, and fabricate and install piping efficiently.
• Assist skilled craftspeople in aligning, bolting, and clamping fabricated metal components into position for welding.
• Assist with assembling and securing pipes, tubes, fittings, and related equipment to specifications, including welding and threading joints.
• Position and secure materials and workpieces during installation, and install items according to applicable plans and specifications.
• Learn to distinguish different thicknesses and types of metal materials.
• Learn to handle and apply rigging equipment manually and securely.
• Operate beveling machines, cut-off grinders, hammers, torches, magnetic drills, and a Saw-Zall.
• Lay out and install equipment, vessels, skids, pumps, pipe, and supports.
• Assist with hydro testing piping systems.
• Observe and comply with safety and project rules; perform other duties as required.
