About The Position

Reporting to the Manager, Crew Planning, the Pilot Training Operations Controller is responsible for the execution, monitoring, and optimization of all short-term pilot training activities. This role ensures the accurate planning, scheduling, and tracking of pilot training within the current month and day-of operations. Working closely with Crew Planning, Pilot Training, and Flight Operations, the Controller ensures training requirements are met in accordance with company policies and Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs), while maintaining operational integrity and minimizing disruptions. The role leverages systems such as Navblue PBS and Navblue Ops & Crew (N-OC) to manage training assignments, recover lost training, and maintain qualification currency.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in Crew Scheduling, Crew Planning, or a related operational role
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of crew management and preferential bidding systems (Navblue PBS, N-OC) is preferred
  • Familiarity with Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs) related to flight crew training and currency is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Execute and manage all short-term (current month and day-of) pilot training scheduling activities.
  • Plan, adjust, and optimize training schedules within Navblue PBS and Navblue Ops & Crew (N-OC).
  • Coordinate and recover disrupted training events, including simulator sessions, Line Indoctrination (INDOC), initial, upgrade, and recurrent Line Checks.
  • Manage and adjust schedules for Training Captains and Approved Check Pilots to support training delivery requirements.
  • Monitor and track completion of all pilot training to ensure regulatory and company compliance.
  • Oversee pilot training currency in accordance with Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs) and internal Flight Operations Administrative Guidelines (FOAG).
  • Escalate training failures, incomplete events, or compliance risks and coordinate remedial training as required.
  • Liaise with Pilot Training, Flight Operations, Crew Scheduling, and external training providers to support training execution and recovery efforts.
  • Collaborate with the Manager, Pilot Training on operational training requirements and priorities.
  • Provide timely communication to pilots regarding training schedules, updates, and changes.
  • Maintain accurate training records and scheduling updates within crew management systems.
  • Input and validate scheduling adjustments and associated pay impacts.
  • Review, cross-check, and submit manual crewing hours to Payroll.
  • Monitor daily training performance and identify risks to training completion or operational readiness.
  • Provide updates and reporting on training status, disruptions, and recovery plans.
  • Actively participate in the Safety Management System (SMS), including reporting hazards and operational irregularities.
  • Promote and adhere to company safety policies and regulatory requirements.
