Pilot Rotor Wing

Air Methods Pilots•Murphysboro, IL

About The Position

The Pilot Rotor Wing operates Air Methods aircraft to transport medical crew and patients to receiving hospitals within an assigned operational area. The pilot is responsible for ensuring that the aircraft and weather conditions are airworthy and for complying with Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR), the Aeronautical Information Manual (AIM), General Operations Manual (GOM) guidelines, and Air Methods policies and procedures. This position is for an EC130 operating under VFR and includes a $20,000 location stipend, off-duty housing, and a $15,000 sign-on bonus. The pilot is the final authority for aircraft operations and the safety of passengers, cargo, and equipment. Duties include conducting pre-flight inspections and post-flight walk-arounds, verifying and documenting aircraft airworthiness, completing required records, and conducting detailed flight planning, including on short notice. The pilot must be familiar with aircraft and medical systems on backup aircraft and ensure the medical flight team is comfortable with the medical interior and systems. The role also involves regular participation in meetings, activities, projects, committees, and community outreach. Scheduled attendance is required, and approximately 10% of time is spent traveling. Candidates must meet the applicable flight-hour, certificate, medical, and operational requirements. Flight crew members must maintain a weight of no more than 250 pounds and be under 70 years old. The position is subject to DOT/FAA drug and alcohol testing.
