About The Position

Our Nestlé Development Center (NDC) in St. Joseph, MO is home to confident, well socialized dogs and cats who help us learn, research, and better understand the well-being of pets and promote the human animal bond. You'll work alongside a team passionate about pet care that ensures our pets have the best quality of care while participating in cutting edge pet food research. Our center is located near the metropolitan area of Kansas City, within 30 minutes of the Kansas City International airport. St. Joseph is a tight-knit, rural community packed with character, still within commuting distance to the city thus, providing many residential opportunities. As a Pilot Plant Technician, you’ll be actively engaged in a dynamic and quality-focused environment, contributing to the execution of formulation and product manufacturing trials specifically focused on our wet food product lines. Come prepared to provide valuable assistance throughout the entire pet food manufacturing process, ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of these trials.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • 3+ years of end-to-end manufacturing processing/operations experience OR 3+ years of mechanical maintenance/troubleshooting experience
  • 1+ years of experience operating material handling equipment such as forklift, Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) equipment, motorized pallet jack, etc.

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ years of experience in food and/or pet food manufacturing is preferred
  • 1+ years of professional experience on a computer is preferred
  • Must be able to perform the physical requirements necessary, such as lifting and carrying up to 50+ pounds, to meet the expectations of job assignments
  • Must be willing to work Monday through Thursday from 6:50AM-4:20PM and Friday from 6:50AM-10:50AM.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and prepare formulations, ensuring accuracy and adherence to protocols
  • Safely conduct pilot plant trials, following established procedures and maintaining a high standard of safety
  • Set up, operate, and clean food-processing equipment, ensuring proper functioning and cleanliness
  • Regularly perform maintenance tasks and assemble/disassemble equipment for different trials
  • Maintain accurate records of data as specified in pilot plant requests
  • Prepare comprehensive summaries of trial results, incorporating observations and recommendations for processing and product enhancements
  • Strictly adhere to all facility policies regarding safety, security, and compliance with Good Laboratory and Good Manufacturing Practices (GLP & GMP)
  • Assist with training and mentorship of other associates
