Ashland has an exciting opportunity for a Chemical Engineer to join our Process Technology Team at our Calvert City, KY location. This is a very visible, significant role within the Company and the global R&D function. This position will report to the Group Leader of the Pilot Plant and Catalyst Testing Lab. Requirements

  • BS in Chemical Engineering is required
  • Ideal candidate has 0-5 years of experience in chemical manufacturing, catalyst generation and operations and/or process research
  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • Commitment to safe practices in all aspects of job

Nice To Haves

  • Displays initiative
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and activities
  • Familiarity with basic process control instrumentation
  • Proficient in PC usage and Microsoft Office software
  • Knowledge of gas chromatography and other analytical equipment is beneficial
  • Understands chemical handling procedures and the use of Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
  • Knowledge of organic synthesis and experience handling organic solutions, organic solvents and flammable gases is desirable

Responsibilities

  • Lead process development and scale-up projects of specialty products developed through the R&D innovation program
  • Develop and evaluate alternative process options to facilitate decisions on product and process feasibility
  • Direct technicians in the pilot plant to define process capability and evaluate process options
  • Participate in plant trials to demonstrate and commercialize new products and processes
  • Summarize and interpret process and analytical data
  • Document and transfer new process technology to manufacturing
  • Evaluate heterogeneous catalyst performance in laboratory scale flow reactors for various processes
  • Maintain and modify bench scale process and laboratory equipment
  • Comply with company procedural guidelines, laboratory procedures, and safety programs
