About The Position

Under the direction of the Healthy Living Director, the Special Skills Instructor plans and teaches specialized group exercise classes to participants. Requirements

High School diploma or GED.
Specialized certification – for revenue producing programs.
First Aid/CPR/AED certification (must be obtained within 30 days of hire)
Bilingual, English and Spanish, a plus.
Excellent interpersonal skills: ability to interact with individuals at all levels.
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Must be organized and detail oriented.
Excellent communication skills.
Passionate about wellness
High-energy personality, outgoing and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment.
Comfortable with public speaking and engaging with adults.
Innate desire to provide excellent customer service to participants, which will result in an exceptional wellness experience.
Ability to lift / move set up and store equipment weighing up to fifty pounds.
Being in good physical health with full range of body motion, including manual and finger dexterity and eye/hand coordination.
Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
Occasionally requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours.
Must successfully complete a drug test.
Must submit to and satisfactorily clear a thorough Level II fingerprint background screening.

Nice To Haves

Two or more years of experience participating in, or teaching or comparable experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Arrives at least 15 minutes prior to beginning of work shift.
Develops and plans appropriate programs for YMCA participants.
Collaborates with the Program Director to coordinate and promote the Y’s Healthy Living program throughout the community.
Plans, supervises, and implements programs in accordance with YMCA of South Florida core values, policies, and Risk Management and Safety procedures.
Demonstrates, models and gears program to the needs of individual or members in the program with concerns for their interests, disabilities, and special talents.
Ensures that the arrangement, appearance, decor, and environment of the Group Ex room are safe and conducive to exercising.
Attends YMCA functions such as staff meetings and program events.
Follows the YMCA of South Florida Risk Management procedures by reporting any incident / accidents to Program Director and / or Human Resources within 24 hours.
Other duties as needed based on Family Center or Program Site requirements or needs.
