Piercing Field Trainer

STUDS Internal CareersNew York, NY
$90,000 - $100,000Remote

About The Position

The Piercing Field Trainer travels the Studs studio fleet to support new graduates through their first 90 days, calibrate Senior Piercers, and observe how technique and compliance standards are being executed in the studio. The role exists because the standards Studs teaches in the Academy need someone in the market to reinforce them as the fleet grows. The role takes technical direction from two partners. The Associate Director, Piercing Operations and Academy sets piercing standards and how they get reinforced in the field. The Senior Manager, Compliance & Legal Operations advises on compliance requirements and manages the tools that track them (e.g., the Studio Compliance App, the studio compliance binder, ICEP). The Field Trainer is the field arm of both, managed day-to-day by the People team. The work is observation, in-the-moment coaching, and routing what is seen back to the right authority — not resolving compliance or making graduation calls. This role is ideal for an experienced piercer who wants to lead technically without operating a studio, who is energized by making other piercers better, and who is comfortable with multi-week travel assignments balanced by remote calibration and standards work between trips.

Requirements

  • Current Studs Senior Piercer in good standing, or at least 12 months of Studs piercing tenure with a demonstrated track record of technical excellence and standards adherence.
  • Demonstrated mastery of Studs piercing technique, jewelry handling, sterile field execution, and procedural standards. Comfortable delivering technical coaching to peers and recent graduates.
  • Independent operator who can hold technical standards firmly while partnering effectively with Studio Managers, Regional Managers, and Compliance. Comfortable working across studios without daily supervision.
  • Up to 70% travel across the studio fleet, including multi-week in-market assignments and weekend availability during assignments. Remote calibration and standards work between trips.
  • Salaried full-time role with variable weekly schedule depending on deployment. Home base in a Studs studio market with reasonable access to a major airport.
  • Comfortable standing for extended periods (up to 8+ hours), able to lift up to 20 lbs, and able to safely handle cleaning and sterilization chemicals.
  • Current BBP and CPR certification required. State piercing licensure as required by deployment market.

Responsibilities

  • Observe technique, jewelry handling, and sterile field execution during in-studio assignments. Reinforce what is being done well; coach in the moment when standards are drifting.
  • Execute piercing standards observation as directed by the Associate Director, Piercing Operations and Academy.
  • Execute compliance standards observation (e.g., audit execution, field documentation, posting verification, licensing checks) using the tools and direction set by the Senior Manager, Compliance & Legal Operations.
  • Document what was seen, what was coached, and what should be watched on the next visit.
  • Surface recurring technical patterns, post-graduation performance trends, and field execution issues to the Piercing Education team on a monthly cadence so curriculum and standards stay current with what is happening in studios.
  • Flag compliance issues spotted in the studio (e.g., expired licenses, posting gaps, sterilization breaches) to the Senior Manager, Compliance & Legal Operations for resolution. Field Trainer brings the signal; Compliance owns the fix.
  • Participate in standards calibration sessions with the Piercing Educator team to maintain consistency between what is taught in cohort and what is reinforced in the field.
  • Own 90-day technical support for new graduates placed in studios without a strong in-studio Senior Piercer, including scheduled check-ins, in-the-moment technique coaching, and escalation to the Associate Director when a graduate is struggling.
  • Close the gap between graduation and confident, productive piercing in the studio. The bar is graduates who hold their own with clients and contribute revenue.
  • Coach existing Senior Piercers on the in-studio excellence scope: holding daily standards, delivering light coaching to peers, and executing compliance documentation. Calibrate Senior Piercers across the fleet so a Studs piercer in one market is held to the same bar as anywhere else.
  • Identify high-potential Senior Piercers and recent graduates for the Piercing Education team’s development pipeline, including future Field Trainer candidates.
  • Coordinate deployment with Regional Managers, who surface field needs and help prioritize where the Field Trainer goes next.
  • Escalate technical disputes between Studio Managers and Senior Piercers to the Associate Director, Piercing Operations and Academy for resolution.
  • Support cohort delivery in partnership with the Piercing Education team when field deployment allows (e.g., cohort observation, graduate placement support).
  • Report on utilization, field impact, and pattern findings to the Manager, Talent Development & Strategy on a regular cadence.
