About The Position

Bassists and drummers (and occasionally guitarists) play as rhythm sections to accompany the pianists in Piano Department labs and ensembles. Work with the faculty member in charge of the course and the other members of the rhythm section to provide solid backup to the pianists in the class. Acoustic bass (as opposed to electric) is preferred by the majority of classes; in general, this position is only suitable to players with ensemble ratings of 3+. Students will be exposed to a wide range of music and gain valuable skill in accompanying.

Requirements

• Current student at Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee.
• Enrolled at least half-time in a degree, diploma, or certificate-seeking undergraduate or graduate program.
• Summer employment requires pre-registration for the upcoming fall semester.
• Have a valid United States Social Security Number (SSN).
• Remain in “valid” Visa status as applicable.
• A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA (first-semester students are exempt).
• Federal Work Study students may apply.
• In good disciplinary standing.
• Must be located in the U.S.
• Ensemble ratings of 3+.
• Proficiency in acoustic bass is preferred.
