About The Position

The Litigation Paralegal will be the main support to the Personal Injury Practice Group. You will work closely with a team of Attorneys from the beginning of a case through the end. The ideal candidate will promote a positive work environment while being committed to the success of the firm’s clients. The position is based in Washington, D.C., hybrid 4 days in office, 1 day remote (Monday-Friday 9AM-6PM).

Requirements

  • Must have a minimum of 3+ years of complex litigation paralegal experience (complex as in conducting legal research and drafting substantive litigation documents such as pleadings, motions, discovery, etc.).
  • Must have experience with DC litigation matters and be familiar with DC court procedures and filings.
  • Skilled in conducting research, drafting legal documents, and managing a caseload.
  • Able to excel in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptionally organized and can efficiently manage time and prioritize tasks daily.
  • Committed to providing superb responsive and compassionate client service.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs – Excel, Word, SharePoint, Outlook, etc.
  • Talented and eager to learn new programs and software.
  • Well versed in data entry accuracy and highly meticulous.

Nice To Haves

  • Combined DC and Maryland litigation experience is highly preferred.
  • Virginia litigation experience is a plus; however, candidates without Virginia experience will be considered if they are open and eager to learn Virginia-specific procedures, particularly electronic filing and Circuit Court practices

Responsibilities

  • Manage a personal injury caseload from the beginning to end.
  • Maintain client files – reviewing, organization and summarizing all case related documents.
  • Draft and submit letters of representation for various Insurance types.
  • Draft legal documents including written discovery, expert designations, motions, notices, etc.
  • Utilization of state and federal online court systems for electronic filings.
  • Constant and consistent client contact via phone calls, emails, and scheduled office meetings.
  • Communicate with opposing counsel, court clerks, insurance companies and lien resolution.
  • Assist with trial preparation including drafting jury instructions, deposition designations, witness, and exhibit lists.
  • Update and maintain calendars of hearings, depositions, mediations, and scheduling orders/case management deadlines.
  • Arrange for service of process with sheriffs & private process servers.
