The Physiotherapist reports to the Program Manager and supports the patients of the Pain Self-Management Program via outpatient physiotherapy and multidisciplinary group programming. The Physiotherapist assesses, diagnoses and treats patients in an outpatient care setting who present with actual or potential impairment, pain, functional limitations or disabilities. Physiotherapy assessment involves obtaining a detailed medical history, performing specific and standardized tests and evaluation procedures to determine a physical diagnosis. Holistic treatment programs are developed using exercises and education. Treatment programs may also include manual, mechanical, and electrical techniques to assist the patient in regaining and/or maintaining an optimal level of function. The physiotherapist educates and communicates with other health disciplines, the general public, family members and caregivers with regard to health promotion, physiotherapy treatment and patient management. The physiotherapist provides supervision and evaluation of physiotherapy students and may include supervision of physiotherapy assistants and aides. The physiotherapist reports to a Program Manager and as a member of a clinical team, the physiotherapist collaborates with colleagues to determine team goals and objectives, participates in the evaluation of the Pain Self-Management Program effectiveness, solves problems and shares responsibilities. Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills are required.
