About The Position

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Physics student to support various engineering projects within the Engineering division. This role offers hands-on experience in applying engineering principles to real-world projects, providing valuable industry insights. The student will assist engineers, discipline leads, and the Core Physics Team with daily tasks, including preparing inputs for and running reactor physics codes, and supporting analyses for reactor design, operation, and safety. Responsibilities also include contributing to engineering, physics, and math deliverables, adapting computer codes, interfacing with multidisciplinary teams, facilitating document reviews, and assisting with departmental administrative tasks.

Requirements

  • Strong foundation in physics and mathematics.
  • Familiarity with analytical/design tools such as MATLAB, ETAP, and MathCAD.
  • Skilled in coding (e.g., C++, Python, FORTRAN).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to apply theoretical principles to develop practical engineering solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent planning, multitasking, and coordination skills.
  • Adaptable and thrives in dynamic, team-oriented environments.
  • Currently enrolled in Physics/Math/ Engineering Program with an accredited Canadian University.
  • Ability to obtain Security Clearance is mandatory.

Nice To Haves

  • Desirable knowledge in reactor, nuclear, or particle physics.
  • Experience with Linux operating systems is an asset.
  • Prior experience in the nuclear industry is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Assist engineers, discipline leads, and the Core Physics Team with daily engineering tasks, including preparing inputs for and running reactor physics codes, and supporting analyses for reactor design, operation, and safety.
  • Contribute to the development and assembly of engineering, physics, and math deliverables for nuclear and conventional systems.
  • Support the adaptation or modification of computer codes for specialized applications.
  • Interface with multidisciplinary teams and project sectors to coordinate assigned tasks.
  • Facilitate document reviews, RFI responses, and attend technical and coordination meetings.
  • Assist with departmental administrative tasks and promote a collaborative, team-oriented work environment.
