About The Position

The Department of Physics and Astronomy at Washington State University invites applicants for a fixed-term Lecturer on the Tri-Cities campus in Richland, WA. This is a teaching position focused on undergraduate introductory physics courses, both lecture and laboratory that are both algebra- and calculus-based. This is a 9-month academic, full-time (100% FTE), fixed-term, Faculty rank appointment with a possibility of renewal. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will begin the appointment on August 16, 2026. As a Lecturer you are expected to provide outstanding teaching at the undergraduate level, mentor students, work in collaboration with other units in the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), be an active participant in the campus sciences programs, and engage in campus service. This position will be responsible for instruction of introductory to mid-level courses that cover topics such as mechanics, wave phenomena, electricity, magnetism, relativity, and quantum theory. Successful candidates must be flexible in their ability to achieve the instructional and general responsibilities of the course assignment, including the use of a broad range of learning resources and technologies. Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Physics or a related discipline
  • Demonstrated experience or potential for teaching with student centered pedagogy practices
  • Demonstrated record of supporting, or potential to support, access and opportunity in teaching and service in alignment with WSU's land grant mission.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
