Carle Health is seeking a Comprehensive Medical Physicist to support Radiation Oncology, Interventional Radiology, and Radiation Safety at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Illinois. This role provides comprehensive medical physics support for four hospital units: Carle Cancer Institute – Radiation Oncology, Interventional Radiology, Hospital Radiation Safety, and Neurosurgery. Responsibilities include overseeing quality control for linear accelerators, supporting external beam radiation therapy and clinical quality assurance, providing physics support for Y‑90 radioembolization, partnering with the Radiation Safety Officer on hospital-wide radiation safety programs, overseeing staff radiation safety practices, dose monitoring, and compliance. The physicist will also ensure proper licensing and Authorized User (AU) requirements under Illinois regulations, provide radiation safety support for GammaTile® (Cs‑131) brachytherapy, and ensure compliance with all State of Illinois and federal regulatory requirements. Additionally, the role involves performing radiation measurements, data analysis, and quality assurance on therapeutic and diagnostic radiation equipment, verifying dosimetry calculations, supporting radiation therapy treatment planning, conducting radiation safety surveys and QA activities to meet ACR certification requirements, maintaining, scheduling, and providing oversight for the Radiation Safety Committee, and collaborating with physicians and clinical teams to ensure appropriate treatment guidelines are utilized and monitored. The physicist will also support continuous quality improvement, regulatory readiness, and safe clinical operations.
