About The Position

St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center is seeking a compassionate Geriatrician to join our team and provide exceptional care to older adults in the Lewiston-Auburn community in a part time role. Requirements

  • MD or DO from an accredited medical school
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine, or Family Medicine
  • Eligible for an unrestricted Maine medical license
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary healthcare team
  • Commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care and shared decision-making

  • Experience with Epic or other electronic health record systems

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive geriatric assessments, including medical history, physical examination, functional status, cognitive health, and medication review.
  • Develop individualized care plans based on each patient’s medical needs, personal goals, and quality-of-life priorities.
  • Manage complex chronic illnesses and multiple comorbidities common among older adults.
  • Evaluate medication regimens and helping reduce unnecessary or potentially inappropriate medications.
  • Collaborate with nursing, advanced practice providers, rehabilitation professionals, specialists, social services, and other members of the care team.
  • Partner with patients, families, and caregivers to support informed decision-making and care planning.
  • Provide education regarding disease management, healthy aging, preventive care, and available resources.
  • Coordinate care across specialties and healthcare settings to promote continuity.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and quality-improvement initiatives.
  • Apply current evidence-based practices in geriatrics and long-term care medicine.
