About The Position

Apicha Community Health Center aims to improve community health by providing access to comprehensive primary care, preventive health services, mental health, and supportive services. The center is dedicated to delivering high-quality, culturally competent services that enhance the quality of life. It also advocates for and offers a welcoming environment for underserved and vulnerable populations. We are currently seeking a Primary Care Physician to work at our Manhattan location.

Requirements

Must have an MD or DO degree & board eligible/certified.
Successful completion of an accredited residency training program in internal medicine or family medicine
BC/BE in specialty
Current and valid NYS license
Current DEA certificate
Updated BLS and infection control certificate
Excellent bedside manner

Nice To Haves

Proficiency in Spanish or an South east Asian language is preferred
Working knowledge of primary HIV medical care and LGBTQI care is a plus

Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive medical care to a panel of patients on a continuing basis including but not limited to Evaluation and management of acute and chronic medical conditions for adults
Advising patients on treatment recommendations, lifestyle modifications, and age-appropriate preventive screenings
Ordering and analyzing necessary diagnostic tests using high value care principles and EBM to inform clinical decision-making
Prescribing appropriate treatment and/or medication in an evidence-based manner and within the scope of licensure
Referring patients for consultant services when necessary
Engage in health promotion activities
Maintain accurate and detailed medical records about each patient, including observations during examinations
Complete EMR documentation, billing, and patient-related paperwork in a timely manner, we use ECW
Comfort working with diverse populations including recent immigrants to the United States
Participate in night and weekend call shared among clinicians
Collaborate with multidisciplinary team
Attend and participate in clinic, provider, and all staff meetings
Participate in pre-visit planning activities with the other members of the care team
Participate in center wide and clinic-specific quality improvement projects and PEER Review
Participate in appropriate certification/maintenance of certification and continuing medical education activities
Maintain updated license and DEA
Work continually to assure deliverance of quality clinical care in a safe, efficient, competent, and effective manner
Comply with all laws applicable to the practice of your specialty including HIPAA and mandated reporting
Perform other duties as required or assigned
