About The Position

The Physician operates under the supervision of the Regional Medical Manager and collaborates with the Chief Clinical Officer on clinical matters. This role is responsible for delivering comprehensive, community-oriented primary care services to patients of El Centro Family Health. The Physician may also provide clinical supervision, mentorship, and guidance to residents, students, and other healthcare providers.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Board certification in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Pediatrics, or completion of an accredited residency program with a minimum of five years of clinical experience if not board certified.
  • Active, unrestricted medical license to practice in the state of New Mexico, maintained through ongoing continuing education.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Post-residency clinical experience preferred, ideally in a primary care setting.

Responsibilities

  • Perform physical examinations, diagnose and treat illnesses, order and interpret diagnostic tests, provide preventive care counseling, and prescribe medications.
  • Deliver care within scope of practice, including patient history, assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, patient education, referrals, and minor procedures using local anesthesia as appropriate.
  • Maintain productivity standards in alignment with organizational goals, including encounter targets and reporting requirements.
  • Refer patients to specialists for advanced consultation and treatment when necessary.
  • Accurately and promptly document patient encounters to support continuity of care, compliance, and billing processes.
  • Supervise and support other medical providers and clinical staff as assigned.
  • Collaborate with leadership in the recruitment, retention, and evaluation of medical staff.
  • Maintain current clinical knowledge and competencies through continuing education and professional development, ensuring compliance with licensure and board certification requirements.
  • Participate in clinic meetings, provider meetings, and other organizational activities as required.
  • Maintain a professional, positive, and patient-centered approach in all interactions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
