The Prisma Health Physician is responsible for the provision of quality medical services to patients of Prisma Health-University Medical Group. This role involves the diagnosis, prevention, or treatment of disease, defects, or injuries, and recommending or prescribing treatments for physical, mental, or functional ailments. The physician will render medical treatment consistent with generally accepted professional standards of care, regardless of the patient's ability to pay or their personal characteristics. Key accountabilities include completing accurate and timely medical records, utilizing appropriate coding systems, and providing after-hours call coverage. The physician must comply with all relevant standards, rules, and regulations, including those from managed care organizations, payors, and accrediting bodies like The Joint Commission. Continuous enhancement of clinical skills through continuing medical education is required to meet certification and licensing board requirements. Additionally, the physician will actively participate in non-revenue generating activities that advance the Vision and Mission of Prisma Health, which may include committee service, community outreach, and supporting teaching and research goals as determined by the Department Chair. Participation in responding to requests for proposals for managed care contracts and in the establishment of quality assurance, utilization management, patient education, and patient satisfaction programs is also expected. The physician will also assist the Employer in obtaining and maintaining necessary licenses, permits, authorizations, and accreditations.
