About The Position

Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is dedicated to transforming the health care experience and providing access to world-class health care in America’s heartland. This position involves joining an established and growing vascular surgery practice within the Heart and Vascular department. The practice includes surgical procedures, clinic, and hospital care, supported by experienced staff. Noninvasive services such as vascular ultrasound, ABI, Echo, Stress echo, nuclear cardiology, TEE, and CCTA are available. The department also collaborates with general surgeons and podiatrists. The hospital is an 118-bed facility with a 14-bed ICU and is a Level III trauma center.

Requirements

• M.D. or D.O. degree
• Successful completion of a vascular fellowship via one of the four pathways approved and accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada.
• Certification in the primary area of practice by the appropriate specialty/ subspecialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as applicable.
• Applicants who are not board certified at the time of application but who have completed their fellowship training within the last five years shall be eligible, however must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of their fellowship training unless the appropriate governing Board waives such requirement.
• Certification as a Registered Physician Vascular Interpretation (RPVI) offered by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
• Demonstrate at least 50 vascular surgery procedures in the last 12 months (either through fellowship log or quality profile from current hospital privileges).

Nice To Haves

• Training at fellowship programs accredited by organizations other than ACGME, AOA, or Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada may be considered via the waiver of eligibility process.

Responsibilities

• Perform history and physical examination
• Admit patients (if applicable to the setting)
• Evaluate, diagnose, and consult on patients
• Provide nonsurgical and surgical care to patients of all ages with disease and disorders of the arterial, venous, and lymphatic circulatory systems, excluding the intracranial vessels or heart.

Benefits

• Competitive compensation floor of $750,000 for the first two years of the employment contract
• Potential to exceed compensation floor from personally performed wRVUs
• $150,000 retention incentive to be paid if you remain a 1.0 FTE for 3 years (subject to a contractual agreement)
