About The Position

Corewell Health is seeking a full-time Surgical Oncologist to join their Cancer Care team in Grand Rapids, MI. This role will involve a broad range of complex surgical oncology, with a focus on cutaneous malignancies, minimally invasive esophagectomy, and the management of peritoneal malignancies. The ideal candidate will also have a special interest in research, with the potential for protected time. Additionally, the role includes training and mentoring medical students and residents. The position is part of one of the largest and busiest comprehensive cancer centers in West Michigan, located at the Lemmen- Holton Cancer Pavilion on Corewell Health's "Medical Mile" in downtown Grand Rapids. The Cancer program offers integrated services including tumor boards, conferences, and collaboration with resident physicians, alongside robust medical oncology, specialized radiation oncology, interventional radiology, genetics, and multi-specialty teams. Surgeries are performed at Butterworth Hospital, which is connected to the Cancer Center via a skywalk. This opportunity provides significant support for growth, research, and a high volume of complex surgical oncology cases, particularly cutaneous malignancies.

Requirements

  • Board eligible/board certified in Complex General Surgery Oncology.
  • Doctorate (MD or DO).
  • State of Michigan Physician License (MD or DO) upon hire.
  • State of Michigan DEA Registration upon hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA or ARC) within 120 days.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (AHA) if required by specialty or stress test performed within 120 days.
