About The Position

Essentia Health is seeking a Physician trained in Surgical Critical Care to join a busy, full-spectrum general surgery practice in Fargo, North Dakota. This growing practice includes laparoscopic, robotic, trauma, breast, vascular, and colorectal surgery. The practice is supported by General Surgery Nurse Practitioners who assist in the OR, provide post-operative care, and round in the hospital. The role involves a transition to an acute care surgery service for day call, with potential for dedicated critical care time and coverage. The position is located at a Level II Trauma Center with a 5-star CMS hospital for Quality, featuring a 132-bed tertiary hospital with all private rooms. There is an opportunity to become the Trauma Medical Director.

Requirements

Board Certification/Board Eligibility in Surgical Critical Care
BC/BE General Surgery
ATLS certification
Legal right to work in the United States
Verification of applicable licensure, certifications, education, and experience
Background checks including criminal, urine drug screen and MVR where required

Responsibilities

Perform full spectrum general surgery including laparoscopic, robotic, trauma, breast, vascular and colorectal procedures.
Provide surgical critical care.
Participate in day call for the acute care surgery service.
Provide coverage for the acute care surgery service (possible 2 weeks).
Potentially serve as Trauma Medical Director.
Round in the hospital.
Provide post-operative care.
