About The Position

The Department of Medicine/Division of Infectious Diseases and Geographic Medicine at Stanford Medicine is recruiting a faculty member at the Assistant Professor/Associate Professor levels. This role will contribute to the research, clinical, and educational activities of the Division. Candidates with research programs in all areas of Infectious Diseases will be considered, including those with clinical and bench-based research programs. The position can be in the University Tenure Line (UTL) or University Medical Line (UML). For UTL appointments, the primary focus is on research and teaching. For UML appointments, the focus is on clinical care, clinical teaching, advancing clinical medicine through scholarly activity, and institutional service. The specific line and rank will depend on the candidate's qualifications and experience. The successful applicant should have an MD, MD/PhD, or PhD degree and a proven record of scholarly achievement, including the ability to collaborate effectively in team science. Physician-scientist candidates for UML appointments must possess or be eligible for a California medical license and are expected to have demonstrated excellence in patient care. Board eligibility or certification in infectious diseases is strongly preferred for UML appointments, but exceptional physician-scientist candidates with relevant research programs but without ID clinical training may be considered for UTL appointments. UTL recruits are expected to establish a laboratory-based investigative program at Stanford. The ability to secure grant funding (for Assistant Professor rank) or prior success in obtaining competitive research awards, a strong publication record, and programmatic synergy with Division members are highly desirable. The Division offers an outstanding scientific and clinical environment, with strong interdisciplinary programs in Human Immunology and Infection, Global Health, Population Health, and the Institute for Chemistry, Engineering and Medicine for Human Health (ChEM-H).
