About The Position

Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is seeking a Rheumatologist to join their team. This position offers the opportunity to join a group of one rheumatologist and an experienced PA, with no call requirements. The role includes the ability to read DEXA scans and work within an Orthopedic Center, Infusion Center, and Pain Clinic, offering services such as injections and PT/OT. The service population is 142,505, supported by a large referral base from primary care and an 118-bed hospital with a Level III trauma center.

Requirements

• M.D. or D.O. degree.
• Successful completion of an Internal Medicine or Pediatric residency program.
• Completion of a fellowship in Rheumatology accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada.
• Certification in the primary area of practice by the appropriate specialty/ subspecialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as applicable.
• Applicants who are not board certified at the time of application but who have completed their fellowship training within the last five years shall be eligible, however must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of their fellowship training unless the appropriate governing Board waives such requirement.
• Demonstrate active involvement of inpatient services to be at least 50 patients in the last 12 months.
• Demonstrate active involvement in the care of 50 patients in clinical practice in the last 12 months.

Nice To Haves

• An applicant who has just completed a fellowship shall provide his/her fellowship log.
• An applicant who is not applying directly out of a fellowship shall provide a quality profile from hospital(s) where he/she currently has privileges showing his/her clinical activity for the last 12 months, including numbers of procedures performed morbidity, mortality, infection rates, and other complications.
• If a quality profile is not available from the hospital(s) where the applicant currently has privileges, documentation of the applicant’s clinic activity for the last 12 months is required.
• Training at residency and fellowship programs accredited by organizations other than the ACGME, AOA or Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, may be considered via the waiver of eligibility process as defined in the Credentialing Policy.
• Refer to each entity’s policy for grandfather exceptions.

Responsibilities

• Perform history and physical examination.
• Admit patients (if applicable to the setting).
• Provide consultative services.
• Evaluate, diagnose, treat, and provide consultation to patients of all ages with diseases of the joints, muscles, bones, and tendons.

Benefits

• Compensation floor of $420,000 for the first two years of the employment contract, plus estimated potential to exceed compensation floor from personally performed wRVUs.
• $200,000 retention incentive to be paid if you remain a 1.0 FTE for 4 years (this will be subject to a contractual agreement specifying all details).
