About The Position

Ochsner Health, specifically the Ochsner MD Anderson Cancer Center in Louisiana, is seeking a BC/BE Rare Tumor Medical Oncologist to join their team in New Orleans, LA. Ochsner Health is a large integrated healthcare system with a significant presence across the Gulf South. This role involves not only patient care but also opportunities in clinical research, teaching fellows and residents, and program development. The position is an academic track role with dedicated time for teaching and research, supported by robust research infrastructure and a partnership with MD Anderson. Ochsner MD Anderson Cancer Center is a leading oncology program in the region, known for its multidisciplinary approach, advanced technologies, and extensive clinical trials. The center has a Hematology Oncology Fellowship and will be launching a Classical Hematology Fellowship in 2025. Significant investments have been made in facilities and technology to support leading cancer care.

Requirements

  • Board certified or board eligible in hematology and oncology.
  • Specialized expertise/interest in rare tumor types (which can include Cancer of unknown primary, Appendiceal cancer, Gastrointestinal stromal tumors, Sarcomas, Mesothelioma, Neuroendocrine tumors, Peritoneal Cancer, Salivary gland cancer, Melanoma, Testicular Cancer, Thyroid Cancer, and others).

Responsibilities

  • Inpatient and outpatient patient care responsibilities.
  • Participate in or develop clinical research studies.
  • Teach fellows and residents.
  • Contribute to the development of the program.
  • Identifying and overseeing clinical trials.
  • Testing new and innovative therapies.
