About The Position

Ochsner Health-Ochsner MD Anderson Cancer Center is actively recruiting a BC/BE Rare Tumor Medical Oncologist to join their group in New Orleans, LA. Ochsner Health is an integrated healthcare system with a significant presence across the Gulf South region. This role offers the opportunity to provide specialized care for rare tumor types, participate in clinical research, and teach fellows and residents. The position is an academic track role with dedicated time for teaching and research, supported by robust multidisciplinary teams and advanced technologies like next-generation sequencing and precision medicine programs. Ochsner MD Anderson Cancer Center is a leading oncology program in the Gulf South, known for its commitment to research, new treatment developments, and a high volume of clinical trials.

Requirements

• Board certified or board eligible in hematology and oncology.
• Specialized expertise/interest in rare tumor types (which can include Cancer of unknown primary, Appendiceal cancer, Gastrointestinal stromal tumors, Sarcomas, Mesothelioma, Neuroendocrine tumors, Peritoneal Cancer, Salivary gland cancer, Melanoma, Testicular Cancer, Thyroid Cancer, and others).

Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient and outpatient patient care.
• Participate in or develop clinical research studies.
• Teach fellows and residents.
• Contribute to the development of the rare tumor program.
• Identify and oversee clinical trials.
• Test new and innovative therapies.
