About The Position

CHI St. Alexius is seeking locum Interventional Radiology (IR) coverage. The ideal candidate will have general IR experience, with stroke capabilities being a preferred but not required skill. The role involves an 8-hour workday, typically between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., with evening call from 4 p.m. to 8 a.m., and 24-hour call on weekends. Increased rates may be considered for specific dates. The facility uses Epic for its EMR system. The client requires a provider with general IR experience, and the ability to perform all listed general IR procedures is mandatory. Stroke capabilities are secondary. Providers will not be expected to read diagnostics in between IR cases. The average number of procedures performed during an 8-hour on-site day shift varies from 10-15. Call backs are typically for emergencies. An ND license is required, along with completed credentialing and enrollment paperwork.

Requirements

  • Board Certified
  • ND license (highly preferred) or IMLC (required)
  • IR Residency or fellowship
  • ACLS, BLS
  • Clean Malpractice record (highly preferred)
  • Availability at time of name clear
  • Experience with all required procedures
  • Self-Query NPDB report dated within 30 days of the presentation date
  • Procedure list completed with 'Yes' or 'No' responses
  • General IR experience
  • Ability to perform all listed general IR procedures
  • Must fill out credentialing paperwork and enrollment paperwork

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic vascular interventions, including angiography (venous and arterial).
  • Perform therapeutic vascular interventions, including angioplasty (venous and arterial), stenting (venous and arterial), emobolization therapy, and thrombolytic therapy.
  • Perform interventional procedures (body, non-neuro), including vascular access devices/PICCs, central lines, port a cath insertions, IVC filters, TIPS, aspiration/drainage procedures, percutaneous needle biopsies (above & below diaphragm, and bone), extractions (biliary & renal), abscess drainage, thoracentesis, paracentesis, myelography, pain management procedures, percutaneous transhepatic cholangiogram, blood patch, joint/epidural injections, vertebroplasty, arthrograms, chest tube insertion, uterine artery embolization, liver Y90/TACE, gastrostomy tube insertion, nephrostomy/ureteral stent insertion, renal fistulograms, and cryoablation.
  • Provide evening call coverage from 4 p.m. to 8 a.m.
  • Provide 24-hour call coverage on weekends.
  • Potentially perform neuro (head) stroke thrombectomy if qualified.
