About The Position

This Physician (Radiology-Diagnostic) position is located at Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) in San Antonio, Texas. BAMC is a 425-bed academic medical center and the Department of Defense’s largest medical facility and only Level 1 trauma center. The center is staffed by more than 8,000 military personnel, civilians, and contractors, and provides care to wounded service members and the San Antonio community. The physician evaluates diagnostic imaging for diagnosis, patient care, research, and education; collaborates with imaging personnel and interdisciplinary clinical and research teams; consults with requesting providers about procedures; and communicates radiologic findings and interpretations to clinicians. The role also includes training residents, physicians, and medical students in Diagnostic Radiology and coordinating radiological services with other medical activities. This is a Direct Hire Authority solicitation open to U.S. citizens. Recruitment or relocation incentives, salary negotiation for candidates new to Federal service, student loan repayment, and remote telework may be authorized. Federal civilian healthcare providers are covered by the Federal Tort Claims Act while acting within the scope of employment, so medical malpractice liability insurance is not required. Salary is determined after an accepted initial offer through an Activity Compensation Panel, based on the position specialty, grade, and location.
