About The Position

Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is dedicated to transforming the health care experience and providing access to world-class health care in America’s heartland. This is a combination practice to include Pulmonology and Critical Care with flexible split options between clinic and inpatient. The primary need is pulmonary. Clinical work can be Pulmonary inpatient and outpatient only or a combination of inpatient pulmonary/critical care and outpatient pulmonary. Access to multiple specialty services such as Cardiology, Rheumatology, Nephrology, Sleep, Infectious Disease and Oncology. Large referral base - service population 142,000. The facility includes 14 ICU beds and is an 118 bed hospital. Critical Care Medicine Core Privileges include the ability to perform history and physical examinations, admit, evaluate, diagnose, and provide treatment or consultative services to critically ill patients 16 and older with organ dysfunction.

Requirements

M.D. or D.O. degree.
Successful completion of a postgraduate training program in the relevant medical specialty and successful completion of a fellowship program specializing in Critical Care Medicine or Neurocritical Care that is accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada or the United Council for Neurologic Subspecialty.
Certification by the appropriate specialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or the United Council for Neurologic Subspecialties (UCNS), as applicable.
Demonstrate active involvement in the Critical Care services of at least 25 patients in the last 12 months.
If not applying directly out of residency/fellowship, provide a quality profile from hospital(s) where he/she currently has privileges showing clinical activity for the past 12 months, including numbers of procedures performed, morbidity, mortality, infection rates, and other complications.
If a quality profile is not available, documentation of the applicant’s hospital-based clinical activity for the past 12 months is required.

Nice To Haves

Training at residency programs accredited by organizations other than ACGME, AOA, Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada or United Council for Neurologic Subspecialty may be considered by the Credentials Committee; Physician Executive or Medical Affairs Committee; and the Board of Directors or the Board of Governors.
At the discretion of the appropriate governing Board applicants may be considered if they have completed postgraduate training program in relevant medical specialty OR have a current certification in Critical Care Medicine or Neurocritical Care and demonstrated competency through satisfactory ICU service.
Refer to each entity’s policy for grandfather exceptions.
