About The Position

Atrium Health at University is seeking an experienced full-time advanced clinical practitioner (ACP) to join their critical care team. This role will provide care for patients in an 8-bed ICU and pulmonary clinic in Charlotte, NC. The position is looking for board-certified Acute Care Nurse Practitioners (ACNP) or Physician Assistants (PA). Experience in an ICU/Pulmonary medicine as an ACP, or a post-grad ICU fellowship, is preferred. The ACP will collaborate with critical care/pulmonary physicians and other ACPs to provide and coordinate care for critically ill patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Teaching opportunities with ACP fellows and nursing staff are available.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited ACNP or PA program.
  • Current license to practice as a NP or PA in North Carolina.
  • Current prescriptive privileges and DEA license required.
  • Nurse practitioners are required to have a master’s degree or doctorate in nursing practice.
  • Certification as an ACNP from a nationally recognized certifying body is required.
  • Physician Assistants with certification from the National Commission on Certification of PAs is required.
  • Interpersonal skills and critical thinking must be demonstrated.
  • BLS and ACLS required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in an ICU / Pulmonary medicine as an ACP.
  • Post grad ICU fellowship.
  • Experience with procedures including central line placement, arterial line placement, Lumbar puncture, chest tube placement, thoracentesis and intubation.

Responsibilities

  • Inpatient management of patients that are hemodynamically complex, respiratory-compromised, and critically ill with multiple comorbidities, including admissions directly from the emergency department, outside hospitals, or floor.
  • Outpatient management of medications and ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests for follow-up and new patients with acute and chronic lung disease.
  • Daily rounding, evaluation, management, and stabilization of complex critically ill patients in the inpatient setting.
  • Responsible for admission notes, consult notes, daily progress notes, procedures, and billing.
  • Interpreting invasive line data, management of chest tubes and cardiac support devices.
  • Management of mechanical ventilation.
  • Providing and coordinating care for critically ill patients in an inpatient and outpatient setting.
  • Teaching opportunities with ACP fellows and nursing staff.
