Requirements

  • Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served on his/her assigned unit/department.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span.
  • Possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to their age-specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the area's policies and procedures.
  • Consistently demonstrates flexibility in adapting to changes in workload and assignments.
  • Able to perform duties beyond the scope of the normal workload.
  • Regularly offers assistance to others in the order to complete workload.
  • Regularly perceives potential problem situations and intervenes to offset adverse impact.
  • Demonstrates good judgment in use of corrective actions or alternatives in problem solving, and follows up with satisfactory prevention plan.
  • Demonstrates responsibility and accountability as their profession, practice and job dictates.
  • Makes effective decisions and takes immediate action in serious/emergency situations.
  • Documents situation and rationale for decision on appropriate forms.
  • Reports situation immediately to proper persons.
  • Evaluates results of action taken.
  • Assists physician/provider with patient treatments.
  • Offers support to patient and monitors patient as required.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, direct, administer, teach, and evaluate nursing care.
  • Ensure quality and efficiency according to established policies and procedures.
  • Manage the message center and enter data into EHR.
  • Evaluate OARRS reports and calculate medication due dates based on this report in addition to information obtained from physician plan of care.
  • Propose prescriptions to providers based on this information.
  • Provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served on his/her assigned unit/department.
