About The Position

Sanford Health is seeking a BC/BE fellowship-trained Pediatric Intensivist to join its well-established team in Marshfield, Wisconsin. The physician will provide initial and ongoing care of pediatric patients needing intensive care services in the adjoining Marshfield Children’s Hospital. Responsibilities include covering the unit 24/7, providing sedation services for procedures, and sharing call responsibilities (1:5, not in-house at night). The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) has approximately 450 admissions per year with an average midnight census of 4.61. The team is part of the 40-member Department of Pediatrics, which includes all pediatric subspecialties. Current fellows are welcome to apply. Requirements

M.D. or D.O. degree.
Successful completion of a hospital-affiliated Pediatric residency program.
Completion of a Pediatric Critical Care fellowship accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada.
Certification in the primary area of practice by the appropriate specialty/subspecialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as applicable.
Applicants who are not board certified at the time of application but who have completed their fellowship training within the last five years must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of their fellowship training unless the appropriate governing Board waives such requirement.
Demonstrate at least 50 Pediatric Critical Care procedures in the last 12 months (either through fellowship log or quality profile from current privileges).
H1B or J1 visa holders accepted.

Responsibilities

Provide initial and ongoing care of pediatric patients needing intensive care services.
Cover the PICU unit 24/7.
Provide sedation services to pediatric patients undergoing clinic and hospital procedures.
Share call responsibilities with the team.
Perform history and physical examination.
Admit patients (if applicable to the setting).
Evaluate, diagnose, and provide treatment or consultative services for children with life-threatening organ system failure.
Manage critical care of patients from neonates to adolescents.
Support vital physiological functions.
Manage conditions including shock, coma, elevated intracranial pressure, seizures, infections, acute and chronic renal failure, acute endocrine electrolyte emergencies (including diabetic ketoacidosis), sepsis, heart failure, trauma, acute and chronic respiratory failure, drug overdoses, massive bleeding, central nervous system dysfunction (including cerebral resuscitation), and kidney failure.
Be involved in medical education and research.
