About The Position

Sanford Health has an opening for a BC/BE Pediatric Nephrologist to join the region's largest team of board certified, fellowship-trained pediatricians and pediatric specialists. The team consists of a BC pediatric nephrologist, clinical support staff, and pediatric trained dialysis staff. The scope of practice includes outpatient clinic and inpatient consults treating acute and chronic kidney disease, congenital renal anomalies, glomerulonephritis, kidney stones, high blood pressure, dialysis therapy, and coordinated follow up care for post kidney transplant patients. The position is supported by the largest team of more than 65 board certified, fellowship-trained pediatricians and pediatric specialists in more than 25 medical specialties. The facility is a Level II Pediatric Trauma Center with a brand new Sanford Medical Center housing a 12 bed PICU, with additional flex beds if needed. The floor is shared with a 20-24 bed pediatric unit, and a 40-bed Level III NICU. Sanford Health Fargo serves a large catchment area of 1.2 million throughout ND, MN and parts of SD and MT. There is a joint appointment as clinical faculty with the Department of Pediatrics at UND School of Medicine and Health Science, teaching medical students & family medicine residents, as well as an upcoming pediatric residency in 2024. Sanford Health Fargo is a Pediatric Subspecialty Loan Repayment Program (PSLRP) eligible site.

Requirements

M.D. or D.O. degree.
Successful completion of a Pediatric residency program.
Completion of a fellowship in Pediatric Nephrology accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada.
Certification in the primary area of practice by the appropriate specialty/subspecialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as applicable.
Applicants not board certified at the time of application but who have completed fellowship training within the last five years must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of their fellowship training unless the appropriate governing Board waives such requirement.
Demonstrated experience in one of the following ways: a completed fellowship log, or a quality profile from hospital(s) with current privileges showing clinical activity for the past 12 months (including procedures, morbidity, mortality, infection rates, and complications), demonstrating active involvement of at least 50 patients in inpatient services in the last 12 months.
If a quality profile is not available, documentation of clinical setting activity for the last 12 months is required, demonstrating active involvement in the care of 50 patients in clinical practice in the last 12 months.

Nice To Haves

Training at residency and fellowship programs accredited by organizations other than ACGME, AOA, or Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada may be considered via the waiver of eligibility process.

Responsibilities

Perform history and physical examination.
Admit patients (if applicable to setting).
Evaluate, diagnose, and provide treatment or consultative services to infants, children, adolescents, and young adults presenting with illnesses and disorders of the kidneys.
Treat kidney disorders including congenital anomalies, acute kidney injury, chronic kidney disease, fluid and electrolyte abnormalities, end-stage renal disease, urinary tract infections, voiding dysfunctions, nephrolithiasis, renal transplant, acute and chronic glomerular diseases, genetic syndromes, tubular disorders, and cystic diseases.
Teach medical students and family medicine residents.
Participate in an upcoming pediatric residency program.
