About The Position

Vighter is recruiting a Pediatric Physician (Pediatrician) to serve at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center at and around Fort Hood, TX. This role delivers patient-centered, evidence-based care while ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, and Vighter clinical policies. The Pediatrician performs a wide range of medical duties covering all aspects of Pediatric care. Vighter is a Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) which provides professional healthcare staffing services to Federal, State, and Local government clients. Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) from an accredited medical school.
  • Active, unrestricted medical license in the state of practice.
  • Graduation from a medical school in the United States, Canada, or approved by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education of the American Medical Association (AMA), graduation from a college of osteopathy approved by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), or graduation from a medical school with evidence of Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) certification as identified in the base contract
  • Shall possess a minimum of two (2) years of post-residency clinical experience within the last three (3) years providing direct patient care in pediatric medicine.
  • Experience must demonstrate recent hands-on proficiency in evaluating, diagnosing, and managing pediatric patients across a broad spectrum of acute and chronic medical conditions in accordance with current clinical standards of practice.
  • Background shall reflect competency in conducting comprehensive pediatric examinations, developing treatment plans, administering age-appropriate interventions, and coordinating care with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Board certified in Neurology.
  • Current BLS certification (ACLS preferred).
  • Must be able to stand or sit for more than 8 hours per day.
  • Must be able to use an elevator or walk up & down stairs.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and carry up to 10 feet.
  • Must be able to routinely grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbows/knees and reach above and below shoulders.
  • Must be able to read and interpret handwritten and typewritten print.
  • Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear.
  • Must be able to perform duties in an indoor office or outdoor environment.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background investigation.
  • Must undergo Urine Drug Screening (UDS).
  • Must be a Citizen of the United States or legally authorized to work in the United States of America.

Responsibilities

  • Provide medical evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care for pediatric patients.
  • Provide inpatient consultation during normal duty hours.
  • May be required to provide consultation outside of normal duty hours.
  • Direct, perform, or assist in the instruction of other health care professionals, volunteers, and students within the scope of the clinical privileges or responsibilities.
  • Provides a full range of out-patient pediatric services to infants, children, and adolescents of both sexes.
  • Performs a variety of clinical care services to include baby services.
  • Provide assessments, diagnosis, and treatment in the areas of infectious disease, allergic, metabolic, neurological endocrine, cardiac, pulmonary, gastrointestinal, hematologic, renal, musculoskeletal, emotional disorders, acute trauma, burns, and removal of foreign bodies from body orifices.
  • Care of newborns will range from routine baby care to acute resuscitation of critically ill, term and preterm infants.
  • Shall take in hospital call in rotation with other physicians.
  • Performs services for emergency room consultations, inpatient ward admissions, nursery admissions, and delivery attendance to include resuscitation of premature and ill infants.
  • Shall rotate and perform services within the Family Medicine Primary Care clinics as determined by the department chief.

  • Knowledge of regulations (HIPAA/Privacy Act) regarding the confidentiality of patient medical records and information as well as Personally Identifiable Information (PII).
  • Performs other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
