About The Position

Sanford Health is seeking a Board Eligible/Board Certified Pediatrician to help establish a new outpatient pediatric practice in Rapid City, South Dakota. This is an opportunity to build a practice from the ground up within a supportive, established health system. The ideal candidate will be passionate about broad-spectrum outpatient pediatrics, interested in shaping clinic workflows and the care model, and committed to providing excellent patient and family experiences. The role emphasizes access, continuity of care, and innovation in pediatric practice.

Requirements

  • M.D. or D.O. degree.
  • BE/BC in Pediatrics.
  • Successful completion of a hospital-affiliated residency Pediatric program accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada.
  • Certification in the primary area of practice by the appropriate specialty/sub-specialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as applicable.
  • If not board certified at the time of application, must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of residency training unless waived.
  • Demonstrate at least 50 pediatric patients in the last 12 months (either through residency log, quality profile, or documentation of clinical setting activity).
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Team-oriented with a patient-first mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Admit, evaluate, diagnose, treat, and provide consultation to patients from birth to young adulthood (21 years of age) concerning their physical, emotional, and social health.
  • Treat acute and chronic diseases, including major complicated illnesses.
  • Provide care to patients in the intensive care setting in conformance with unit policies (if applicable to setting).
  • Assess, stabilize, and determine the disposition of patients with emergent conditions consistent with medical staff policy regarding emergency and consultative call services.
