About The Position

Sanford Health is seeking a Board Eligible/Board Certified Pediatrician to establish and lead a new outpatient pediatric practice in Rapid City, South Dakota. This is a unique opportunity to build a practice from the ground up, influencing clinic workflows, culture, and the care model, while being supported by a large rural health system. The ideal candidate will be passionate about broad-spectrum outpatient pediatrics, community engagement, and defining a modern pediatric care model with an emphasis on access, continuity, and patient experience. The role involves providing comprehensive care to patients from birth to young adulthood, including managing acute and chronic conditions. The position offers an outpatient-only focus with an anticipated strong referral base.

Requirements

  • BE/BC in Pediatrics
  • Passion for broad-spectrum outpatient pediatrics
  • Interest in building a practice and engaging in the community
  • Team-oriented with a patient-first mindset
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • M.D. or D.O. degree
  • Successful completion of a hospital-affiliated residency Pediatric program accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada.
  • Certification in the primary area of practice by the appropriate specialty/sub-specialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as applicable.
  • Must be able to demonstrate at least 50 pediatric patients in the last 12 months (either through residency log or quality profile/documentation of clinical setting activity).

Responsibilities

  • Admit, evaluate, diagnose, treat, and provide consultation to patients from birth to young adulthood (21 years of age) concerning their physical, emotional, and social health.
  • Treat acute and chronic disease, including major complicated illnesses.
  • Provide care to patients in the intensive care setting in conformance with unit policies (if applicable to setting).
  • Assess, stabilize, and determine the disposition of patients with emergent conditions consistent with medical staff policy regarding emergency and consultative call services.
  • Help shape clinic workflows, culture, and care model.
  • Engage in the community.
