About The Position

The physician is responsible for the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of the health problems presented by the patients. This role involves developing and cultivating positive working relationships, promoting a culture of safety and collaboration, and providing distinctive, personalized care to both internal and external customers. The physician will assist in meeting operational, financial, and patient satisfaction goals, and ensure timely completion of competencies and organizational mandatories. Key responsibilities include assessing and monitoring patient medical needs, providing quality medical services cost-effectively, communicating regularly with patient families and other healthcare professionals, and documenting medical services according to standards. The position also requires participation in on-call and weekend coverage, value-based reimbursement programs, quality initiatives, and peer review activities. Additionally, the physician will assist in developing policies and procedures, support patient participation in clinical trials, and provide oversight, teaching, and mentorship to fellows, residents, APPs, and students.

Requirements

• Doctorate
• LIC-Physician (MD) - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required
• Or LIC-Osteopathic Physician (DO) - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required
• CRT-DEA Registration - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required
• CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association 120 Days required
• Or CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross 120 Days required
• CRT-Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - AHA American Heart Association 120 Days required

Responsibilities

• Diagnosis, prevention and treatment of patient health problems.
• Develop and cultivate positive and productive working relationships with other Corewell Health personnel.
• Promote a culture of safety, teamwork, compassion, collaboration, clarity, curiosity, and courage.
• Demonstrate a commitment to service and distinctive, personalized care with both internal and external customers.
• Assist in meeting operational, financial, and patient satisfaction goals.
• Timely completion of all specific competencies and annual organizational mandatories.
• Assess and monitor the medical needs of patients.
• Provide quality medical services to patients in a cost effective, appropriate manner and ensure coverage of case load at all times.
• Communicate regularly with patients’ families, referring physicians, specialists, nursing staff and other hospital departments regarding the plan of care and treatment of patients.
• Document medical services in the patient’s medical record in a manner consistent with hospital, payor, and regulatory standards.
• Participate in on-call and weekend coverage, as required by the Department.
• Participate in value-based reimbursement programs and quality initiatives, as required by the Department.
• Participate in Quality Improvement (QI) / Quality Assurance (QA) and peer review activities as requested.
• Assist, as requested, in the development of policies and procedures as they related to medical practice and quality patient care.
• Participate in ongoing process improvement activities through the development/application of clinical paths, process improvement and other related activities.
• Support patient participation in clinical trials and research projects, assess clinical safety and efficacy data, consistent with Research Institute policies.
• Provide oversight, teaching, and mentorship of fellows, residents, APPs (e.g., physician assistants and advance practice registered nurses), and students and others (as appropriate) providing services to patients, including meaningful participation with the affiliated medical schools as requested.
