The physician is responsible for the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of the health problems presented by the patients. This role involves developing and cultivating positive working relationships, promoting a culture of safety and collaboration, and providing distinctive, personalized care to both internal and external customers. The physician will assist in meeting operational, financial, and patient satisfaction goals, ensuring timely completion of competencies and mandatories. They will assess and monitor patient medical needs, provide quality medical services cost-effectively, and ensure continuous coverage of their caseload. Regular communication with patient families, referring physicians, specialists, nursing staff, and other hospital departments regarding the plan of care is essential. Medical services must be documented according to hospital, payor, and regulatory standards. The position requires participation in on-call and weekend coverage, value-based reimbursement programs, quality initiatives, and Quality Improvement/Quality Assurance activities. The physician will also assist in developing policies and procedures related to medical practice and patient care, and participate in ongoing process improvement activities. Support for patient participation in clinical trials and research projects, including assessing clinical safety and efficacy data, is also a responsibility. Furthermore, the role includes providing oversight, teaching, and mentorship to fellows, residents, APPs, students, and others providing patient services, with meaningful participation in affiliated medical schools as requested.
