The West Virginia University Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute and the Department of Neurosurgery seek a Pediatric Neurosurgeon. Ranks available include Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor. Senior candidates may be considered for the position of Chief of Pediatric Neurosurgery at WVU Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute. The successful candidate will practice in Morgantown, WV. The Division of Pediatric Neurosurgery is part of the collaborative WVU Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute, which includes over 280 faculty members across various neurological and psychiatric disciplines. The Institute focuses on providing compassionate patient care and advancing medicine through education, research, and outreach, aiming to develop innovative solutions for neurological and psychiatric conditions. WVU Medicine maintains two Level IV Comprehensive Epilepsy Programs for both adults and children, supported by advanced neuroimaging capabilities. The new WVU Medicine Golisano Children’s Hospital, opened in September 2022, serves as the state's premier site for pediatric care. The WVU Medicine Golisano Children’s Neuroscience Center, within the Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute, comprises several divisions dedicated to child neurology and related subspecialties. The Center offers specialized clinics for Cerebral Palsy and Spasticity, Epilepsy, Neurodevelopmental disorders, and movement disorders, along with telehealth programs. Close collaboration exists with pediatric surgical subspecialties, behavioral medicine, rehabilitation, and neuroradiology. WVU Medicine Golisano Children’s is equipped with a full suite of pediatric operating rooms, a cardiac catheterization lab, GI-endoscopy, and the state's only epilepsy monitoring unit for children. The hospital includes various specialized units such as a Pediatric Acute Care Unit, NICU, PICU, CICU, Emergency Department, and centers for heart and blood disorders. It is a Level 2 Pediatric Trauma Center with plans to achieve Level 1 status. The hospital also features a Birthing Center and maternal-fetal medicine clinic. WVU Medicine Golisano Children’s is unique in West Virginia for its pediatric cardiac surgery program, ECMO program, Level IV NICU, and Magnet status for nursing excellence. The West Virginia University Health System is the state's largest health system and employer, with significant expansion in specialty care areas. It operates the state's first and only multi-organ transplant center and includes over 20 member hospitals serving a multi-state region.
