Physician, Pediatric BMT - Helen DeVos Children's Hospital
About The Position
The Pediatric BMT Team at Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital is seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible Physician to provide care to pediatric patients receiving autologous or allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplant, CAR T-cell therapy, or Gene Therapy. The successful candidate will work within a highly functional BMT space, caring for patients from infancy through young adult. This role involves collaboration with a team of 3 Physicians, 4 APPs, Clinical Coordinators, Pediatric Pharmacists, MSW, and intake coordinators, covering both inpatient and outpatient care within the BMT setting.
Requirements
- BC in Pediatrics, BC/BE Pediatric Hematology/Oncology or Pediatric Immunology/Allergy
- MD/DO State of Michigan
- DEA Registration - STATE_MI State of Michigan
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Pediatric Adv Life Support (PALS)
Nice To Haves
- HSCT experience
- Some experience with CAR T-cell therapy and Gene Therapy preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assesses and monitors the medical needs of patients/significant others.
- Provides quality medical services to patients in a cost effective, appropriate manner and ensures coverage of caseload at all times.
- Provides input into the development of policies and procedures as they related to medical practice and quality patient care.
- Provides oversight of Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners and others providing delegated services to patients.
- Evaluates patients'/significant others'/staff educational needs and develops and implements appropriate teaching strategies or delegates to appropriate resources.
- Documents in a manner consistent with regulatory standards.
- Communicates with other members of the health care team in order to ensure continuity of care and coordination of services. Acts as a patient / family advocate.
- Participates in ongoing process improvement activities through the development / application of clinical paths, process improvement, and other related activities.
- Actively works with Corewell Health to meet financial and patient satisfaction goals.
