About The Position

ERP International, LLC is seeking Physician - Pathologist for full-time positions supporting Naval Medical Center San Diego. This role offers a 20k Sign-On Bonus. Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.).
  • Graduation from a medical school in the United States, Canada, or approved by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education of the American Medical Association (AMA), graduation from a college of osteopathy approved by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), or graduation from a medical school with evidence of Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) certification.
  • Board certification through American Board of Pathology in both Anatomic and Clinical Pathology.
  • Completion of graduate medical education program in pathology or a pathology subspecialty accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
  • At least five years of independent clinical practice required.
  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the state of California.
  • Possess a current AHA OR ARC BLS Healthcare Provider certification.

  • Subspecialty certification preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a full range of physician services in accordance with privileges granted by the MTF.
  • Direct, perform, or assist in the instruction of other health care professionals within the scope of the clinical privileges or responsibilities.
  • Examine, diagnose, treat or prescribe courses of treatment within the scope of training, experience, and privileges.
  • Provide preventive and health maintenance care, including annual physicals, positive health behaviors, and self-care skills through education and counseling.
  • Order diagnostic tests as applicable as well as request consultation or referral with appropriate physicians, clinics, or other health resources as indicated.
  • Technically proficient in directing and teaching other medical staff, providing educational lectures and participating in the provision of in-service training to clinic staff members.
  • Uses knowledge of new and advanced diagnostic techniques to serve as an authoritative consultant on very complicated diagnostic and treatment problems by recognizing rare and difficult to identify symptoms by applying a comprehensive knowledge of pathology; general medicine; emergency medicine; basic sciences, including anatomy, chemistry, and pharmacology; and laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Provides on-site assessment for cytologic adequacy examinations of fine needle aspirations in various areas of the hospital.
  • Works with patients' body fluids or tissue to test for and evaluate a variety of pathologies.
  • Performs gross examinations to obtain diagnostic information from specimens, including the stage and margin status of surgically removed tumors, and to gather information during the preparation of tissue samples for subsequent microscopic examination.
  • Gross specimens for processing as directed by the Anatomic pathology medical director.
  • Prepares patients' specimens for examination and/or intraoperative consultations.
  • Confirms patients' test results by verifying diagnosis is supported by other diagnostics, such as cross referencing.
  • Respond to physician inquiries about pathology results or disease conditions.
  • Serve on the NMCSD tumor board as directed by the Anatomic pathology medical director.
  • Provides accurate information about the pathogenesis, histogenesis, biology, and differential diagnosis, such as evaluation of bone marrow, peripheral blood, and lymph nodes.
  • Maintains the confidentiality of all patients' medical data, including Personally Identifiable Information/Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (PH/HIPAA).
  • Participates in meetings and committees as directed by the lab department head.
  • Supports all administrative tasks relevant to the laboratory and pathology services as directed by the department head.
