About The Position

This is a full-time contract position providing direct physician services in an occupational medicine and urgent care setting at the DHS St. Elizabeths Campus in Washington, DC. The role involves evaluating, diagnosing, and treating acute illnesses and injuries, conducting various medical examinations, performing minor procedures, and providing medical oversight to clinical staff. The position requires onsite clinical coverage with potential for surge support, operating Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Eastern Time. The contract period is from September 22, 2026, to September 21, 2027, with potential for four 12-month option periods.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from an Accredited Medical School
  • Completion of an Accredited Residency in Occupational Medicine or Family Medicine or Internal Medicine, or a Related Specialty
  • Current, Full, Active, and Unrestricted Physician License Acceptable Under Applicable DHS/DHA and Duty-Location Requirements
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Occupational Medicine; Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or Another Relevant Specialty May Be Considered
  • Current DEA Registration Required
  • Active 10-Digit National Provider Identifier Required
  • Current Basic Life Support Certification Required
  • Minimum of One Year of Recent Clinical Experience in Occupational Medicine, Urgent Care, Emergency Medicine, Primary Care, or a Comparable Setting
  • Must Be a U.S. Citizen, Noncitizen National, Lawful Permanent Resident, or Other Individual Legally Authorized to Work in the United States
  • Ability to Stand and Walk for Extended Periods, Type and Navigate EHR Systems, Lift and Carry up to 25 Pounds, Assist Patients, and Respond Rapidly to Urgent or Emergent Situations
  • Must Be Available and Committed to the Full-Time Onsite Assignment and Any Authorized Mission-Related Surge Support

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct physician services in occupational medicine and urgent care
  • Evaluate, diagnose, treat and manage acute, illnesses and injuries commonly presenting in an urgent care environment
  • Conduct pre-employment and pre-placement medical examinations and determine compliance with applicable occupational health standards
  • Evaluate work-related injuries and illnesses and provide appropriate treatment, restrictions, referrals and follow-up recommendations
  • Perform authorized minor procedures, including wound care, laceration repair, incision and drainage and splinting as clinically appropriate
  • Prescribe medications and treatments within licensure, DEA authority, approved formulary or protocols and granted clinical privileges
  • Provide medical oversight, consultation, and clinical support to registered nurses and other authorized clinic personnel without assuming contractor administrative supervision
  • Collaborate with nursing staff, clinic leadership, contractor management, and authorized government personnel
  • Participate in quality assurance, performance improvement, risk management, documentation review, clinical competency, training and clinic readiness activities
  • Any other duties as may be assigned
