About The Position

Corewell Health, Michigan’s largest health system, is seeking full-time and part-time anesthesiologists to join our Corewell Health West Women’s Health team. This opportunity has flexibility between care team model and self-performing anesthesia. The position is located at a Level 4 Maternal Health Center, Butterworth Hospital, which handles just under 8,000 deliveries a year. The role includes a dedicated OB anesthesia day and night team, with no main OR cross coverage while on L&D shift. The multidisciplinary physician-led L&D team includes anesthesia care RNs, with plans to include APPs this year. The team is building toward a new anesthesia residency in the next 2-3 years and is a robust quaternary referral center led by a well-established Maternal Fetal Care team. There are opportunities to lead and contribute on multidisciplinary teams, including placenta accreta care, complex cardiac maternal care, and building a Fetal Care Center. Women’s Health anesthesia opportunities outside of obstetrics include complex GYN, MIGS, uro-gyn, gyn-onc, and soon office-based gyn cases.

Requirements

Doctorate (MD/DO)
Anesthesiology Board Certification/eligible
LIC-Physician (MD) - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required Or LIC-Osteopathic Physician (DO) - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required
CRT-DEA Registration - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required
CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association 120 Days required Or CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross 120 Days required
CRT-Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - AHA American Heart Association If required by specialty or stress test performed 120 Days required

Responsibilities

Provide anesthesia in both care team and solo practice models
Participate in a 1:7 call rotation, covering shifts on L&D and main ORs
Contribute to quality initiatives, periop optimization, and collaborative decision making across teams
Help build our new residency program, with input on OB anesthesia didactics, clinical instruction, and rotation building
